Weekly Watch Focus: Floods in the Mississippi Delta

FRIDAY, MAY 13, 2011. Record flood waters are expected to crest in the Mississippi Delta over the next few weeks. Thousands of people have already lost homes and property further up the river, and many more are in danger as the floods make their way toward the Gulf. Pray for the safety of those living in the affected region. Pray for wisdom for authorities as they make difficult decisions to protect people and vulnerable levies. Remember those in the flood’s path, and pray for their recovery. May the waters recede and dry up quickly.

Keep in prayer the regions that are recovering from last month’s tornadoes and wildfires. Pray for a turn-around and restoration for these devastated regions.

Is. 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 32:6-7, “For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Psalm 74:15-16, “You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up mighty rivers. The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.”

We also want to thank the Lord for the quick action of our members of congress who protected our military chaplains from facing the moral dilemma of performing same-sex unions as part of their duties. Pray for the continued morale of our troops and pray for the Lord to embolden and strengthen our lawmakers and military leaders who stand for the Judeo-Christian foundations and values of this land.

Prov. 22:28, “Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors.”

Jer. 6:16, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls.
