Purim—In the Hot Gates

      20120308Purim
For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14). The words of Mordecai to Queen Esther after all the Jews of Persia were condemned to die.

This week marks Purim, the celebration of God’s great deliverance when one young woman, an orphan who became a queen, stood in the gap for her entire nation. The book of Esther has spiritual significance for every person, both Jewish and Christian, in every generation. It is the account of God’s intervention in the destiny of a nation through individuals who recognized that there was another Kingdom to which they were subject, and a higher law that governed the affairs of man. It is the same recognition that we see in our nation’s history, where patriots gathered to sign a Declaration that aligned our nation and our future with the government of God and threw off the tyranny of man.

God had made a promise to His people through Abraham, and it was on this promise that Esther relied when her nation faced extermination. Mordecai, Esther’s uncle, counsel and a type of the Holy Spirit, knew that God would be true to His promise, and that Esther was uniquely positioned for a purpose much greater than saving her own skin. He saw God’s kairos for Esther to stand in the gap and buy time for Heaven’s intervention. She put everything aside in her quest: “If I perish I perish” (Esther 4:16). During the same era God had His hand and His eye on another nation, in another place, in another kairos time. In a narrow mountain pass called Thermopylae King Leonidas led 300 Spartans into battle to defend the scattered city-states of Greece from invasion by King Xerxes and his 200,000 strong army which included 10,000 elite troops called “the immortals.”

God is the God of nations. He holds the destinies of nations in His hands, and turns the hearts of kings. Leonidas and his men were uniquely formed by a culture that had been set in place for that significant moment in the future history of the world. On a boiling hot August day a 50 foot gap overlooking the sea became the point of engagement where Western Civilization would either flourish or be subsumed by an opposing kingdom. The heroic last stand of those few and the warriors rallied to their cause bought the time needed to unite and ultimately repel the invaders from the East. The Battle of Thermopylae was the turning point that preserved Western Civilization and flowed into the fullness of time when Christ would come to declare and institute his eternal kingdom on earth toward heaven. In a clash of kingdoms in this hour, God is casting his eye over the nations. He is looking for those who will rally to his cause at all cost in order to buy time and stay destructions planned by the enemy to disrupt God’s glorious destiny for a nation, for a generation: “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ez. 22:30).

Ancient Persia is once again spewing forth threats and decrees against Israel. Economic policies and out of control spending threaten to topple nations. The Middle East is boiling with unrest and turmoil. America is in her own “Hot Gates” battle for her identity and destiny. The outcome of this battle holds the potential to fundamentally transform the mindset, ideology, and identity of Western Civilization for generations to come.

Besides Israel, God’s covenant land and people, there is no other nation on earth with the unique history and signature of the Holy Spirit on its founding, identity, and destiny as America. God wants to give us a hope and a future. He is looking for those who will make up a wall, and stand in the gap in agreement with heaven. He is looking for first responders in this kairos hour of opportunity for His victory in this battle.

If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be granted me for my wish, and my people for my request (Esther 7:3).

Esther had God’s favor which made her queen. When she stewarded that favor she gained more favor from the king in her nation’s hour of need. That favor reversed the outcome, and even the unchangeable laws of the Persian Empire could not hold back the flood of God’s purposes for His covenant people. Esther became the turning point for answered prayer, restoration, and the reassignment of wealth, property, authority, and influence in a land where her people had been sent into captivity. God is intimately involved in the destinies of nations and people. When He pours out His Spirit, it is always accompanied by a rise of men and women who pick up His heart for their nation and align with His will. This is our time of favor. This is God’s year to act on behalf of His purposes for America and the nations: “In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!'” (Is. 49:8-9).

This is our kairos hour to stand alongside one another with our Captain in the gates of destiny for America and her place in the kingdom events in our day. We come as ambassadors of heaven to proclaim liberty to the captives, restoration to our land, and reassignment of desolate inheritances. Think about that the next time you read the headlines. Our King, the Captain of Angel Armies, has turned into this battle to oppose the destruction waged against Western Civilization, and He is looking for those who will join Him.

You have been born for such a time as this!

So as we come into congruence with God’s Hebrew calendar at Purim and we enter the next selection of our national political leaders we pray: “Lord, give us leaders such that it would be to Your glory to give us the victory through them.”

Hallelujah! Sound the battle cry! Jesus our Lord is coming soon and we shall be held accountable for our actions and prayers during such a time as this - let us be unafraid to speak out and to pray against the enemy's attacks while we declare the gospel to all the nations of the world - PTL for both of you as you lead the armies of God.

What A Timely word! I was just reading about Esther last night and completed a fast... This is the time for God's people to rise up and take a stand. If we do not then who will. I am a watchman and I take my place on the wall and say. THIS FAR and NO MORE!!

Thank you for leading us and encouraging us to stand and be the intercessor for this hour on the "Wall" as "Watchmen". My heart is aflame to rise at this hour--NOW IS THE TIME. Lord, help us to be strong and not fall for the devil tells us we cannot, BUT GOD SAYS WE CAN!! Hallelujah!
