Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for our Armed Forces and Law Enforcement

FRIDAY, December 7, 2018—We are in a season where our thoughts turn to Christmas and being with our family. Let us remember in prayer members of our armed forces far from home serving in missions at posts spread across the world. May the Lord strengthen and comfort these families, and may the God of Angel Armies protect these men and women wherever they are serving. Honor those who gave their all. Pray for those recovering from injuries and traumas. May the Holy Spirit encourage each of them, and may they know that they have a place of honor in our hearts.

We also honor and pray for extra covering for our police and all law enforcement. These men and women serve us and our communities on a daily basis to keep us safe. Pray for their protection, wisdom and guidance. Pray for restoration of honor for those who serve. Put a hedge of protection around our nation at this season, binding back any terror attacks before they can harm those whose duty it is to keep us safe.

Part II Honoring the Passing of George H. W. Bush

This week the nation honored former President George H. W. Bush on his passing. We recognize his valiant service to our nation that began as a young man during WWII through his final years in the Presidency and beyond. As the Bush family mourns their loss, let us pray comfort and peace for the family. He will be dearly remembered as a strong believer in Christ and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”

Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
