Memorial Day

John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

This weekend, we remember and honor the men and women who have died in service to our freedom. There is nothing we experience that is more like Christ’s sacrifice, trading one’s own life for the liberty and life of others, paying the ultimate price for another, someone you do not know far away on a distant shore.

On this Memorial Day, we set aside time to honor the U.S. men and women who have lost their lives serving their country. We honor the many allied soldiers who fought and died by their sides. We salute them all. Let us continue to cover in prayer all of our armed forces presently serving. May the Lord of Hosts cover and protect those in harm’s way around the world as they stand in the gap for freedom. May they feel our love and support; may their families be blessed with provision and strength. We thank them and their loved ones for their sacrifice.

Above all, we honor the thousands of Americans and allies who have laid down their lives for freedom across the globe. Pray that the Lord brings healing, peace, and reconciliation to the nations. Come Holy Spirit. Come, Prince of Peace.

Psalm 20, “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah. May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.”

Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”

Isaiah 53:2-5, “For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Likewise, continue to pray for our law enforcement officers who are potentially laying their lives on the line for our peace and freedom. Lord, we remember them this Memorial Day and cover them anew. We pray for God’s continued peace and supernatural shalom to reign on every city. Lord, Command Your angelic hosts to surround every member of our law enforcement as a shield and refuge. We speak blessing over every police officer and every precinct.

2 Samuel 22:3-4, “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.”

Jeremiah 29:7, “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”

Psalm 91, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day. Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra. The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him. And show him My salvation.”
