Glory and Light, Comfort for Kentucky
Last week tornadoes ripped through Kentucky leaving over seventy people dead. This week before Christmas we agree in prayer for the comfort, strength, and recovery for all those effected. Just as the shepherds who beheld God’s glory that first Christmas, may God’s glory surround the victims of this tragedy. We release angels to work around them for their good. May the Holy Spirit hover over them, comfort them, and lift them up. Lord, send helpers, aid, provision, and a miraculous joy to these hurting communities.
This Christmas, we worship and glorify Christ in our midst, at home, and in our communities. We give thanks for every blessing. We ask: Lord, encourage the hearts of Your people in this season of the celebration of Your appearing. Manifest and move in signs and wonders and miracles. As shepherds who watched by night experienced the light and glory of the first Christmas, may that glory be manifest to every watchman today. Let the glory of the Lord arise and shine through the Church of Jesus Christ in this hour.
Luke 2:9,10,13,14, “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’”
2 Corinthians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.”
Isaiah 60:1:1, “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.”
Psalm 104:30, “When you send forth your Spirit… you renew the face of the earth.”
Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
2 Samuel 24:25b, “So the LORD heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.”
