Weekly Watch Focus: America’s Debt Crisis
FRIDAY, July 22, 2011. Our nation’s debt stands at more than 14 trillion dollars. The Federal Government has to borrow more than 42 cents for every dollar it spends, much of it from China. This load will burden down the future of our children and grandchildren if things are not turned around. We are spending more than we have. If drastic changes are not made, America’s economy will collapse in the near future. Pray that our leaders will have the wisdom and courage to take the measures needed to heal our economy for the sake of our children and grandchildren. The problems are vast, but we can turn to God in repentance, crying out for His mercy. May He send a Great Awakening, resulting in spiritual and economic restoration for our nation. Deut. 15:6, “For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.” Deut. 28:12, “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” Deut. 28:15, 43b-44, “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you… you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.” Rom. 13:8, “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.” Prov. 21:5, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” Prov. 22:3,7, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty…The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” Lk. 14:28-30, “Suppose one of you wants to build a house. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’”

On this occasion of July 4th, give thanks for America. The founding fathers who wrote the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and our constitution were deeply impacted by the Bible and theGreat Awakening. |
