Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Iraq

FRIDAY, June 20, 2014, Let us pray for Iraq as the extremist, Islamic terrorist group, ISIS, continues their murderous rampage through Iraq. In just the past week they have massacred 1,700 Iraqi soldiers. More than 4,500 soldiers from the American and allied forces died to help give Iraq freedom from the despotism of Saddam Hussein. The interim years have been filled with corruption and sectarian in-fighting led by the government of Prime Minister Maliki. Pray that the America and British governments will have wisdom in helping Iraq. Let us bind the demonic forces inspiring ISIS, which is allied with Al-Qaeda. Pray for the civilian population, especially for Christians who are being singled out for special persecution.

Also, remember to lift up Kenya and Nigeria which have had a recent upsurge of murder and violence from Islamic terrorists within their borders.

Eph. 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Ps. 91:5,6, “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”

Ps. 27:2-5, “When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”

2 Kings 13:17, “And he said, ‘Open the east window’; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, ‘Shoot’; and he shot. And he said, ‘The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.’”

Ps. 91:4, 11, “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”
