Weekly Watch Focus: Sound the Jubilee

FRIDAY, Sept. 5, The distinct blast of the trumpet across Israel released the Year of Jubilee. This was a great season of release from bondage, debt, and restoration of family and property. Some rabbis believe that this coming Rosh Hashanah, September 24-26, will usher in the next year of Jubilee. We believe as Christians that the person of Jesus Christ is our Jubilee fulfilled. This is a prophetic time for us to apprehend by faith fresh Jubilee blessings. May our families, finances, and churches experience a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit for restoration in this hour.

In fulfillment of the promises of Isaiah 61, Jesus came and declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me!” (Luke 4:18). Let us set our hearts to fast and pray together starting September 8 for a 21-day corporate fast. We invite you to join with us in these days of humbly seeking the face of the Lord for His mercy and grace, with personal and national repentance. May the Lord heal our land and disrupt and destroy every satanic plan of terrorism, violence, or oppression against us. Let us remember Jesus’ words that “this kind goes out only by prayer and fasting.”

Lev. 25:8-12, “And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. 10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the field.

Duet. 15:1-23, “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release. Of a foreigner you may require it; but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, except when there may be no poor among you; for the Lord will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance— only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today. For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.”

Luke 4:18, ” “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”

Mk 9:29; 2 Chron. 7:12-20; Is. 58:11
