Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for the Persecuted Church

Friday, March 22, 2019—This past week in Nigeria, more than 130 Christians, mainly women and children, were massacred by Islamic extremists in North and Central Nigeria. Boko Haram has killed more Christians in Nigeria than ISIS in all of the Middle East. Attacks on Christians are on the rise around the globe, with pressure increasing in China, the Middle East, and in the West where there is growing intolerance for Judeo-Christian values and norms in the public square. On this final day of Purim, let us pray a strong shield of protection for the Church of Jesus Christ. Jesus laid down His life for His beloved Church. May His Church grow stronger and brighter in the midst of darkness. Bind back every spirit of witchcraft, persecution, and division. Pray for the Christian community in Nigeria. Bind the spirit of anti-Christ that is attempting to wipe out the Christian witness in Nigeria. Pray that the Lord will look on these threats and give the Christians everywhere boldness and power to proclaim the gospel. In the last days, the Word promises the Church will arise and shine. Pray for a mighty move of revival and that thousands will come into the Kingdom of God.

Part 2: Pray for Mozambique

The recent cyclone in Mozambique has resulted in massive loss of life and terrible conditions for the survivors. 90% of the area surrounding Mozambique’s largest city, Beira, has been destroyed by the Cyclone Idai and resulting flooding. Hundreds are confirmed dead, and the toll is expected to rise into the thousands. Pray for the grieving families and for the rescue efforts to prevent further loss of life. Pray for relief organizations, especially IRIS ministries and Christian partners who are coming to the aid of the region. Pray for the nation of Mozambique to be healed and transformed by the glory as they recover from this disaster.
