Benefits!
Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6
Isaiah 58 is one of the best descriptions of fasting in Scripture. It lists at least twelve specific benefits of “the fast that God has chosen”:
1. Revelation 2. Healing and wholeness 3. Righteousness 4. The presence of the shekinah glory of God 5. Answered prayers 6. Continual guidance 7. Contentment 8. Refreshing 9. Strength 10. Work that endures 11. Raising up future generations 12. Restoration
What benefits do you need today?
Do you have loved ones who are hurting? Do you know people who are oppressed and desperate to be free? Do you want to walk in greater revelation and righteousness? You have the keys to healing, wholeness, restoration and the living presence of God to set captives free!
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the fast You have chosen to set my family and loved ones free. As I fast, may I have greater revelation and discernment and Your heart to minister Your love, healing and deliverance to the lost and hurting. Lord, I pray for Your restoration in our nation. Restore our Judeo-Christian foundations, our economy, our educational systems, our media and our culture. I ask that Your light would dawn over America once again and bring awakening and return to righteousness to every aspect of our nation. Come Holy Spirit, and renew the face of the earth!
